Koto Hydropower Project Timergara District Dir Lower
INTRODACTION
Government of khayber pakhtunkhwa through its energy and
power department is making consistent effort to provide adequate facilities for
generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy, keeping in veiw
the present severe power shotage and
future requirements for industrial , agricultural and economic development of a
country.
Constuction of koto hydropower project (40.8MW) was started
on 2 february ,2015 and schedule to be comleted in 48 months i.e on 31
january,2019
The project will be completed by EPC contracter Sichuan
(china), Sawer (pakistan) ,Sillan and chongging layang (chiness Firms) through
managament consultant M/S ELECTRA consultants (pakistan) in association with
INTEGRATION (Germany).
PROJECT OBJECTIVE
The prime objectives of the implementation of this project is
to developthe power potential available in Khayber Pakhtunkhwa , on sustanible
basis and to provide cheaper ,renewable and environment friendly energy to the
system .
PROJECT AREA
Koto
hydropower project is situated on panjkora river in Distric Dir lower .project
area is accessible frome timergara Town through the main Dir Timergara raod
(N45) .the road to the project site remains operational round the year .
BENEFITS
THE
hydropower project is beneficial and attractive ecnomicaly which will help in
saving foreign exchang on import and fossil fuel.
The
project will supply 40.8 MW of power and will generate 205 GWh of energy
annualy which will assist in meeting power demand of the country and will also
help in reduction of load sheeding. The project will generate Revenu of Rs.1970
million annualy at full operation .
Creation
of job oppertunities of skilled /unskilled labour.
Provision
of oppertunities to local people towards
enhancement of economic activities through establishment of small scale
businesses.
